Dear Mr. Cheng,

Thanks for your email.

Firstly, we wish to clarify that ticketing for shuttle bus service will be kept in use whenever the OCTOPUS devices were equipped.

Secondly, we are preparing the tender documents for phase 2 Octopus System installation which covers the carpark system at estate entrance. We will put into our 2014 budget and submit to Finance Subcom for discussion in next meeting.

Best regards,

Benny Chan

For personal privacy sake, this email will be sent out with bcc recipients of RAOC members and RA owners. Those who do not want to receive my emails on RA issues or anyone wants to be CC instead of BCC on future emails, please let me know, thanks.

Dear Mr. Chan,
As the Shuttle Bus ticket is going to be replaced by Octopus Card very soon, please also look into the Ticket Jam issue reviewed 3 months ago.
Could you update us on below Ticket Jam issue which have been causing inconvenience to RA residents, visitors and loss Shuttle Bus in-out data?
Is there any plan to use Octopus Card to improve the access control for all cars coming in and out of the resident’s car park and the podium?
Thanks & best regards,

Peter Cheng

PS. The RA Plaza and any reasonably managed shopping malls and estates in Hong Kong are using Octopus Card. Is it time to make the change?

Dear Mr. Chan,

Thanks for the data. I have sorted and grouped the data for further analysis per attached.
There are some ideas that you may consider in order to reduce the down time:

– Mechanical Fault (28%) due to paper Ticket Jam: suggest install Octopus Card to eliminate the use of tickets.

– Other Faults (72%): please work with the vendor on a preventive maintenance program focusing on scheduled 更換 (50%), Reboot(22%), 清理(11%), 調較(17%)

Best regards,

Peter Cheng

Re: Driveway Control System Breakdown leading to Missing SB Records

Dear Mr. Cheng,

Sorry for my late reply.

Please be informed that the current maintenance contractor for the driveway control system is “DKSH HONG KONG LIMITED (大昌華嘉香港有限公司)”. It is noted that the company started their business in Hong Kong in 1923. More detailed information can be found in their website http://www.dksh.hk/ .

According to the service contract, the technicans from DKSH have to carry out routine maintenance for the system every month. For the repair records, it will be provided before next Wednesday.

Should you have any queries, please feel free to contact me at 2687-6612.

Dear Mr. Tang,
Thank you for your prompt response of mine of this morning.
I must admit that I am sceptical about your explanations for 3/17, 3/18 as well as 3/19

and I am one half convinced that you will not lie to the members of RAOC, especially

those who are experienced enough in overseeing the activities of shuttle bus operations;

therefore, if they are satisfied with your explanations for these three days’ missing trips

which came to 22.5 trips, I would tend to follow their lines of belief because of their silence.

Thanks again for your effort.

Dear Mr. Pun,

Please find our findings of shuttle bus movements on 19 March as follows:

19 March 2013

Incident (1):

It was noted that driveway control system of Kau To Shan suffered a breakdown around 16:06. We have recovered the missing computer records from CCTV as follows:

Bus No3:

OUT 16:06:46 — IN 16:28:14

Bus No.6(4):

OUT 16:12:51 — IN 16:33:42

Bus No.5:

OUT 16:17:36 — IN 16:37:38

Incident (2):

At 17:30, driver of Bus No.2 was substituted by a reliever to have dinner. In common practise, driver of Bus No.2 would finish dinner before 18:30, wait the Bus No.2 back and serve Trip95 (18:30). However, on 19 March, Bus No.2, which was driven by the reliever, had a delay on the returning trip and could not back before 18:30. To avoid missing trip happen, driver of Bus No.2 drove the Spare Bus to serve Trip95 (18:30), Trip 100 (19:00), Trip 105 (19:30), Trip 110 (20:00) and Trip115 (20:30).

We have recovered the missing computer records of the Spare Bus from CCTV as follows:

OUT 18:39:21 — IN 19:02:43

OUT 19:09:02 — IN 19:31:19

OUT 19:38:24 — IN 19:59:32

OUT 20:06:32 — IN 20:23:15

OUT 20:31:01 — IN 20:47:22

No missing trip was found.

Attached herewith the “Detailed Movement Sheet” of shuttle bus for your information. Should you have any queries, please feel free to contact me at 2687-6612.

Thanks & regards,

Dear Mr. Tang,
Good morning.
Despite of your explanation given for Monday, 3/17 & Tuesday 3/18, I have yet to be convinced

and accept, because, if it happened on 3/17, the same mistake could not have happened again

on 3/18. That’s the reason I have my reservation.

Shockingly, the 3/19 Wednesday figure appears to be warranted for your investigation again; and

I hope you don’t come back again with the same excuse/explanation. Same mistake could happen once

or twice, but definitely not the third time; especially, not continously for three solid days.

Mr. Tang, I am afraid you and I will have more arguments again and again, if you and your

superior do not have the genuine intention to look into the roots of the problem and solve it

with their hearts, it will be forever a problem. One more car to stand-by and one more driver

in place are propaganda only and do not solve the problem which only you and I know too well.
